Installing a new graphics card will enhance the video quality of the PC. This is better for watching videos or playing games on the PC.

Task

Task description: We had to put a new graphics card into the computer to make sure the Pc worked correctly

Solution to task and/or faults encountered

Describe the settings, commands used and actions taken:

Make sure workplace is clean and tidy and made sure I had everything I needed
Check how much RAM your computer has
Take plugs out of the socket
Put on anti-static wrist strap
Take all cables out the back of the PC
take the back off the PC
take the front off the PC
take the disk drive out
Check RAM slot
When you hear a click  the RAM is in
Take 1 of the metal slots off so you can insert your graphics card
Install graphics card gently/slowly
Put disk drive in
Put PC  back together
Put cables into the back of the Pc
put the Antennas into the back of the Pc
took off anti-static wrist strap
Turn PC on
I ran dx diag to make sure the GPU was working correctly
Take the CD-ROM out of the packet and put it in the disk tray
Follow the on screen introductions
The GPU and its Driver are now installed properly on the system.

































Testing

Describe all final testing procedures carried out and their results.

Ran Dx Diag to find anything that was wrong with the PC

Before the installation you could not access the internet but by using the network card you can connect to nearby routers without having to use a cable.

Task description:

  I had to put a put a new network card into the Pc

Solution to task and/or faults encountered
Describe the settings, commands used and actions taken

I made sure the workplace is clean and tidy
Turned on PC and ran dx diag
I made sure that there was no damage box the network card was in
I made sure that were was no damage done to any of the system cables
Put on Anti-static wrist strap
Shut down the PC and took all cables out the back
Took  PC apart
I checked to see which PCI port the network card went into then I unscrewed the relevant  back plate
I made sure that I held the network card by the corners
I inserted the network card gently so the grooves and the PCI port match up
I made sure the network card was secure by screwing it into the case
Put everything back together
I plugged in all the cables
I then took off my anti-static wrist strap
I ran dx diag to make sure the network card was installed properly
Took the CD-ROM out of the packet and placed it in the disk tray
The Network Card and its Driver are now installed properly on the system.

































Testing

I ran a dx diag test to confirm that the installation of the  network card was a success

RAM


Reasons for upgrading RAM


    I upgraded the RAM because before the install the computer was slow and was sometimes not even responding. But due to the RAM upgrade both the performance and system speed were boosted.

Describe the settings, commands used and actions taken

Make sure your workplace is clean and tidy and that you everything you need to complete the task
I checked if there was any damage done to the RAM packaging
I checked if there was any noticeable signs of damage done to any of the System cables
Put on Anti-static wrist strap to avoid electrostatic discharge
I turned off the PC then took all the cables out of the sockets and out the back of the Pc
I   then started to take the PC apart
First I removed the top panel so I could see all  the components inside the Pc
I    then took the front of the PC off ,then I removed the disk drive so I could see the motherboard
Insert the RAM into the slot until you hear the sides of the port click
Put PC back together
Plug all of  the cables into the back of the Pc
I   took off my anti-static wrist strap
I started up the PC and ran dx diag to make sure that the installation was successful
I then checked if the amount of RAM in the PC had changed

I also checked system information to confirm the installation

It is a lot cheaper to buy all the components and put the PC together yourself rather than  buying all the components in a ready made package.
